Armenia Startup Academy officially launched
The Armenia Startup Academy (ASA) was officially launched at the Hero House and is now contributing to the Startup Ecosystem of Armenia. The initiative is supported by SMEDA and implemented by Catalyst Foundation aiming to boost the startup ecosystem and bring the Armenian startups to the next level. With the help of a team of advanced mentors, advisers, instructors and entrepreneurial assistants it offers a pre-acceleration programme to guide tech companies and startup teams through the process of customer development using advanced tracking methodologies and instruments.
“The Armenia Startup Academy is an important milestone in developing the startup ecosystem, a step forward for startups, tech entrepreneurs and innovators who believe in high tech future”, mentioned Ashot Arzumanyan, co-founder of ASA, in his welcoming remarks.
Hoa-Binh Adjemian, Head of Cooperation Section of EU Delegation to Armenia, re-stated in his speech about EU’s readiness to contribute to Armenia’s innovative growth through its equity fund, acceleration, seed funding and other support projects impelmenetd with GIZ and other partners.
Emil Tarasyan, Deputy Minister of MEDI, said that the idea of establishing the Armenia Startup Academy has been fully supported by the Government, and it should be ongoing and sustainable in the future contributing to the successful and innovative products and solutions to boost the county’s development.
SMEDA’s Team leader Eva Naeher said: “ This is a House of future heroes, a great place for young innovative people to learn and develop further. SMEDA is honored to support this initiative”.
The curriculum of the programme was introduced to the audience by Hambardzum Kaghketsyan, co-founder of ASA, which was followed by brief pitches from the participating startups and a networking session to conclude the event.

The 3rd Regional WE Club took place in Sisian, Syunik Region on September 27 organised by the consortium of Goris Women Resource Center and Mirhav hotel. The latter are the successors of the WE Club platform in Syunik Region. The topic of the event was “Art of Sales”.
"Think Bigger, Think Future "- the Women Entrepreneurs' Workshop was held on August 28th organised by SMEDA project, aiming at summing up the series of activities on enhancing women entrepreneurship implemented by the project through it WE Clubs, WE Talks and working groups. It gathered leading women entrepreneurs, BMO representatives, advisers and trainers in Armenia to exchange and share their experiences on successful models for women entrepreneurship, discuss the current challenges and suggest strategic approaches for further development and promotion of women empowerment topic. The event hosted special guests form Germany and Georgia: Tinatin Rukhadze, Jean Elsner and Amelia Omerika, who eagerly shared and presented their success stories with useful tips during the "Mentorship and Coaching for Women Entrepreneurs" event following the workshop.
The message delivered by Tinatin Rukhadze, founder of a consulting company in Georgia, trainer and coach was that if a woman wants to be successful she should be strong and believe in herself, and only after that the rest of the world will believe in what she does. Do not be afraid to try and challenge, be strong and patient on your way to success, this was one of the inspiring messages to the Armenian women entrepreneurs.
