The Business Angel Network of Armenia (BANA) is a platform for investors supported by European Union through EU-SMEDA project since its establishment in 2017.

Since then, international expertise was mobilised to develop the strategy of BANA and help to attract initial members. This support is ongoing that made BANA a strong investment network having a big impact on the country’s   entrepreneurial ecosystem. As to date, members of BANA have invested over 360,000 EUR in startups and   another 200,000 EUR is being negotiated for various startup companies and business ventures, which is a quite significant result within the 2 years of operation.

Mr. Gonzalo Serrano, Head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Armenia said at his welcoming speech that BANA plays an important role for the business and investment environment of Armenia and EU will continue supporting BANA through the EU-SMEDA project.

Ms. Eva Naeher, Team Leader of EU-SMEDA project said that the support of business angels to startups has high significance not only financially but more for knowledge sharing and guidance to them.  She thinks that the international business angels and consultants involved in BANA perform valuable work in that regard sharing knowledge and experience with Armenian startups.

Among many other recommendations and raised issues the importance of communication, branding and storytelling was highlighted by experienced investors as success factors for startups and entrepreneurs in Armenia that want to attract investment.
