Armenian-Iranian Nano-tech Forum
The first Armenian-Iranian Nanoscience and Technology Forum took place in Yerevan, Armenia on September 22-23, 2017.
The Forum focused on high-tech and innovation policies, presentation of nano-tech products, equipment, commercialisation experience, along with discussions on potential directions for cooperation between Armenian and Iranian institutes and companies. As such it has resulted in the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding between Armenian and Iranian companies, namely: New Plast CJSC and Arya Polimer Pishpam Company, Azad Pharmaceuticals and Eksir Nano Sina Company, Tonus Les and Eksir Nano Sina.
“The Nano-Tech Forum has marked the beginning of the cooperation between the Armenian and Iranian nano-tech companies and will be a good incentive to ensure sustainable development in business, technological and scientific sectors of the country”, stated the RA MEDI Deputy Minister Emil Tarasyan at the MOU signing ceremony.
“For the SMEDA project, the initiative is an important activity to foster the connection between science and business. Our project is aiming at commercializing business relevant ideas and the field of nanotechnology offers the potential for great business opportunities in Armenia.”
The forum was organised by the RA Ministry of Economic Development and Investments (MEDI) in partnership with Iran’s Nanotechnology Initiatives Council, in the framework of the Support to SME Development in Armenia (SMEDA) Project, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development implemented by GIZ.

On December 5th, a press conference was held ahead of "Empowering Regions through High-tech" forum on Dec. 7-8, 2018 in Gyumri. The aim of the forum is to empower the youth of Armenia's regions by supporting regional startup ecosystem, encouraging innovation and IT development in regions through creation of cooperation & partnership with global companies and IT networks, universities and non-tech SMEs. It is expected that over 200 participants from all the regions of Armenia will attend the event.
Within the frames of the 19th Film Festival taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia, the members of Independent Filmmakers Community of Armenia- IFCA visit the Georgian Film Cluster and the Georgian National Film Center to establish connections, discuss cooperation opportunities and partership, and eventually implement joint projects.
On November 30, Business Innovation Forum 2018 #BIF18 kick-started. Acting Minister of Transport, Communications and IT, presented the Innovation and IT Development Concept of Armenia, which aims at ensuring abrupt growth of economy and making Armenia a true high-tech & innovation center not only on regional level but also well-recognized globally.
