Hackathon-Innovative ideas for tourism development in Armenia

Vanadzor Technology Center together with Enterprise Incubator Foundation, State Tourism Committee and Lori regional administration organize “Innovative ideas for tourism development in Armenia” Hackathon.
The Hackathon is supported by EU4 Business "Support to SME Development in Armenia" (SMEDA) project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ’s Private Sector Development in South Caucasus Programme.
The Hackathon aims to promote tourism industry in Armenia bringing innovative solutions and services to the market which will be more attractive for tourists and will ensure more income for the implementers.
Innovative ideas particularly in following areas will be encouraged by jury:
• Technological Solutions for raising awareness about tourism in Armenia
• Improvement of Information search
• Development of Innovative Tourism ideas
One of the objectives is the development of tourism in Lori region and Vanadzor where tourism is declared a priority sector of the economy.
Also, the ideas that can advance: Wine, Heritage and Eco Tourism.
The Hackathon will bring forth innovative services/products in the field of tourism which will be of interest both for Armenian and world tourism market and will ensure tourism flow and revenue.
Organisers will accept the applications with ideas that have clear implementation plan with a budget that does not exceed 25.000.000 AMD.
20 teams from all over Armenia will be selected based on the criteria set by organizers. Maximum number of team members is 4. Thus, 80 participants are expected at the Hackathon.
Teams will be working on the prototypes of their ideas/products within 24 hours and will submit for jury’s decision.
Jury members will be the best professionals of the field.
Prizes of 2.000.000 AMD, 1.200.000 AMD and 750.000 AMD are determined for the winners of the Hackathon. Mentioned prizes will be granted as professional services for development of the proposed product, such as marketing expense or translation or study trip to Europe.
The “Innovative ideas for tourism development in Armenia” Hackathon will take place on April 7-8, at Vanadzor Technology Center. Transportation for teams from Yerevan, Gyumri, Stepanavan and Alaverdi to Vanadzor and back is provided.

2nd cycle of Innovation Matching Grants launched

The 2nd cycle of the Innovation Matching Grants competition for innovative technology start-ups is launched and open until April 03, 2018. Business Club for Fashion & Design - a new platform for Armenian designers

The Business Club for Fashion and Design has become a reality thanks to the efforts of a group of young Armenian designers from the Fashion and Design Chamber jointly with the Business Club for Impact, supported by EU4Business Support to SME Development in Armenia SMEDA project. The club will serve as a platform for the development of the fashion and design cluster.
